Description

Lake of the Woods is a giant, dwarfing most lakes in both the United States and Canada. It is vast, purely natural, and very old, a remnant of prehistoric Lake Agissiz, a lake that once spanned the center of North America. Today, at a fraction of that original size, it still spreads over 1,679 square miles and its shoreline is 25,000 miles long - over twice as long if you count the shorelines of the 14,552 islands.
