Watery wilderness and paddlers' paradise, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is best known for its long-distance water trails, though there is also a selection of land routes on hand for aspiring hikers.
This site was a training ground for Civil War recruits & was attacked twice during the U.S.–Dakota War of 1862.
