Watery wilderness and paddlers' paradise, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is best known for its long-distance water trails, though there is also a selection of land routes on hand for aspiring hikers.
A sunny beach and open grassy areas for Frisbee or other sports makes this park a fun, family recreation area. The campground is high on the hill overlooking Echo Lake. The Agate Geological Interpretive Center is now open and features information on Minnesota's geology and the state gemstone, the Lake Superior Agate. 5 miles of hiking; boat and canoe rental; 7 miles of cross-country ski and 2 miles of snowmobile trail. 2 miles paved bike trail connects to Willard Munger State Trail.
