Description
Birch Lake Campground is especially popular with people who enjoy fishing. The campground location provides a remote, quiet atmosphere. Some of the campsites will accommodate larger recreational vehicles. Most sites allow you to pull your boat right up to the site. Campground access roads are gravel.
Birch Lake is a 5,628-acre reservoir which flows north to White Iron, Fall and Basswood Lakes and eventually to Hudson Bay, Canada. Birch Lake is a popular fishing lake for walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, bluegill and crappie. The lake reaches 25 feet deep but also has very shallow, rocky bays with irregular shoreline. There are no horsepower limitations and large boats can be used, but boaters should be aware of shallow areas. Boat ramps are available at Birch Lake Campground, City of Babbitt, and Kramer Point at the southwest end of the lake.
