Vast expanses of deep blue lake shimmer right up to forested shores in Voyageurs National Park, a watery retreat favored by boaters, houseboaters and paddlers alike.
The park is named for Henry Schoolcraft who guided by the Anishinabe, found the source of the Mississippi at Lake Itasca. The Mississippi River is a little wider as it flows through the park, but this is a much quieter spot than the busy Headwaters. Canoeists and hikers enjoy a nice view of the river from the park. Staffed by nearby Hill Annex Mine State Park.
