Watery wilderness and paddlers' paradise, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is best known for its long-distance water trails, though there is also a selection of land routes on hand for aspiring hikers.
Situated on the shore of a 55-acre lake, the Pfeiffer Lake Recreation area has many facilities for the one-day family outing or a two-week camping trip.
Free day-use facilities include a sandy beach with picnic tables and grills, a boat landing, playground area, fishing deck and hiking trail.
The camping sites are suitable for tents and RVs. Showers and electrical hookups are not available at this campground.
The normal camping season runs from mid-May through Labor Day but camping is allowed until snowfall with reduced services.
