Together "Twin Cities" Minneapolis and state capital, St. Paul, paint a very urban picture that lacks not for cultural color nor pleasant parks with proximity to river, wilderness and Amish country for extra polish.
Cafesjian's Carousel operates seasonally in a $1.1 million Victorian pavilion near the Conservatory in St. Paul's Como Park, not far from its first home at the Minnesota State Fair. This wooden carousel was built by Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1914, has been fully restored, and shows much of its original paint. Music comes from a Wurlitzer 153 band organ rebuilt by a carousel volunteer. Even when it is not operating, the carousel can be seen through large glass doors.
