Description
East Bearskin Lake Campground is located on East Bearskin Lake at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It is a perfect choice for people who want the flavor of the Boundary Waters and the convenience of car camping. Some sites are hike-in access. A boat ramp at the campground allows access to the lake by both motorboats and canoes. Be aware though that the two eastern bays of East Bearskin are within the BWCAW and require permits for entry. Day permits for non-motorized use are available at the campground, but overnight and motor use permits must be applied for in advance.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Permits
- Day trips and off-season overnight: Follow directions on the self-issuing permit in the box at the boat landing. Special rules apply, so read the permit carefully (for instance no cans or glass allowed.)
- Overnight May - Sept. and motor use: Do not use self-issuing permit. Obtain an overnight permit from a Forest Service office or outfitter.
Bears!
Be bear aware while camping. Close and fasten campground waste containers. Lock food securely in vehicles - bears have been known to break into pick-up toppers and RV screen doors. Never burn food waste or packaging, and never store food in tents.
