Vast expanses of deep blue lake shimmer right up to forested shores in Voyageurs National Park, a watery retreat favored by boaters, houseboaters and paddlers alike.
The Hay Lake School museum is Washington County Rural School District #2. The School building was constructed in 1896 and the last class attended in 1963. The school was opened as a museum in 1974 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Next door is a two-story log home built in 1868 by the Johannes Erickson Family. This home is designed like those in middle Sweden and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Both are operated by the Washington County Historical Society.
