Together "Twin Cities" Minneapolis and state capital, St. Paul, paint a very urban picture that lacks not for cultural color nor pleasant parks with proximity to river, wilderness and Amish country for extra polish.
Hermann Park has its reflective pool and Sam Houston in bronze and on horseback, but giant as it is, it’s home to more. The Houston Zoo is here, as is Miller Outdoor Theatre, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The Hermann Park Golf Course is even the first public golf course in the U.S. to be desegregated. But if just taking a meander through the park is more your speed, look out for McGovern Lake’s geyser, find the interactive fountains at Molly Ann Smith Plaza, take a seat in a pagoda or near the Pioneer Monument Obelisk.
