Carefully groomed greens shape the face of top North American golfing destination, Brainerd, though this central Minnnesota city is also close to a handful of historic sites and sparkling lakes.
Moose Lake is known as the Agate Capital of the World and is home to the world's largest agate on record weighing in at 108 pounds. This is kept on display at the First National Bank of Moose Lake. Every year we host the 'Agate Days' celebration which includes the "Agate Stampede". Two dump trucks empty loads of rock mixed with agates and hundreds of dollars in quarters down Elm Avenue. Thousands of people line up along the two block street and wait for the cannon to boom signaling the start of the stampede.
Our largest celebrations include the Old Fashioned 4th of July in the city park including fireworks at dusk, Agate Days and Art in the Park. These events draw many, many visitors to the area, especially for the Agate Stampede which is always held at 2:00 p.m. on the Saturday of Agate Days.
We offer a compact version of Go-Minnesota for mobile users, allowing you to access just the information you need on the road. Of course, you can still use the full version of Go-Minnesota on your mobile device just as you can on your desktop.
