Watery wilderness and paddlers' paradise, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is best known for its long-distance water trails, though there is also a selection of land routes on hand for aspiring hikers.
We are a year round Family Vacation Resort with more than 500 acres of land and one mile of shoreline bordering two lakes and a scenic river. The resort grounds are spacious and child friendly. We offer great personal service and a large variety of activities. Rainbow Resort specializes in great year around getaways, whether it is a small group, family reunions, business/group retreats or camp. There are 13 lakeside Cabins and Vacation Homes, all include lakefront decks. AIR CONDITIONING now in cabins 6a & 6b and 8a & 8b. The 3 & 4 bedroom vacation homes have two baths, dishwashers & gas fireplaces. All have great views of the lake. Three are wheelchair accessible; these Vacation Lake Homes include roll-in showers and wheelchair accessibility to the lake. Our large group complexes can sleep up to 24 persons. We have a Lodge with snacks and a short order grill or a meal package can be arranged. Wi-Fi is available in the lodge and also in the recreation room. Added resort amenities are a campground, sauna, showers, guest laundry, playground, disc golf, hiking & biking trails. We have more than 23K of on-site groomed resort owned XC Ski trails. Groomed for both classic and skate skiing. Winter rental equipment available. Itasca State Park, Mississippi Headwaters is just 1/2 hr. drive. The resort is located right on a network of hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails in a heavily forested area. Rental equipment available in the summer include boats, motors & pontoon. Free use of kayaks, canoes and paddleboats. we offer organized childrens activities Mon-Thur. The clear springfed lake is located on Little Bemidji Lake connecting to Elbow Lake,with excellent fishing. Fish species include walleye,crappies, sunfish,large mouth bass, perch & northern pike The Lake is also great for swimming & all water related sports. Located on the western slopes of the Laurentian Divide in forested area just 20 m. from the Headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park and on the north boundary of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Detroit Lakes, Park Rapids and Shooting Star Casino are just a 3/4 hour drive.
