Together "Twin Cities" Minneapolis and state capital, St. Paul, paint a very urban picture that lacks not for cultural color nor pleasant parks with proximity to river, wilderness and Amish country for extra polish.
This State Park on the North Shore of Lake Superior offers cart-in and backpack campsites. Activities in the park include 12 miles of hiking trail; 8 miles of paved bike trail; lake, river and stream fishing, snowshoe trails and intermediate level cross-country skiing. The park offers excellent views of Lake Superior. Split Rock Lighthouse historic site is located in the park.
